PATIALA, July 25: An aggrieved family from Sant Hazara Singh Nagar on the Patiala-Sanaur Road has appealed to the authorities for prompt legal action and protection following a recent property conflict that left an elderly relative severely injured.

Addressing a media briefing, family members maintained that they continue to face security concerns following an alleged confrontation at the residence of senior citizen Joginder Singh and his late wife, Surjit Kaur. According to the family, a group led by Tarvinder Sharma, accompanied by several associates, allegedly attempted to take over the property and physically assaulted the family members present.

Detailing the impact of the assault, Rupinder Kaur and Mandeep Kaur declared that Joginder Singh suffered significant injuries, including a broken jaw that has restricted him to a liquid diet for days. They stated that a formal written complaint was submitted at the Sanaur police station immediately after the occurrence.

While acknowledging that local police have initiated an inquiry into the matter, the family expressed anxiety over their ongoing safety. They asserted that additional legal provisions should be incorporated into the registered case to address the severity of the offense and prevent further intimidation.

Seeking wider intervention, Rupinder Kaur affirmed that written representations have been forwarded to the Human Rights Commission, the Women’s Cell, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. She maintained that providing full details to law enforcement should enable swift legal proceedings against those involved.

Addressing the situation, Mandeep Kaur declared that ensuring safety within residential areas remains essential for public confidence. Meanwhile, officials at the Sanaur police station maintained that investigations into the incident are actively ongoing to ensure appropriate action.
