Amritsar, October 28, 2024 — In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Police have dismantled a cross-border drug smuggling operation, seizing a record 105 kg of heroin along with other narcotics and weapons.
According to Police, this operation, based on intelligence information, marks a major success for the Punjab Police.
During the raid, authorities recovered 31.93 kg of caffeine anhydrous and 17 kg of Dimethyl Diethoxy Benzyl (DMR), in addition to a substantial cache of firearms.
The police have arrested two associates of international drug smuggler Navpreet Singh Nav Bhullar—identified as Navjot Singh and Lovepreet Kumar.
The smuggling operation reportedly utilized waterways for transporting narcotics from Pakistan, with evidence indicating that large rubber tubes were concealed within the vehicle’s tyres for this purpose.
According to police sources, Singh and Kumar were acting on behalf of Bhullar, who is based abroad. They have been actively engaged in drug sales for the past three months.
The arrested persons were presented in court, where they were remanded to police custody for three days, allowing for further questioning as the investigation continues, police added.
