New Delhi, August 5: The Ministry of Home Affairs informed the Lok Sabha that Chandigarh is currently operating with a well-equipped administrative team consisting of 12 IAS and nine IPS officers. Responding to an unstarred query raised by Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai submitted a written response clarifying that the current administrative officer strength compares with sanctioned levels of 11 IAS and seven IPS posts.
The official submission noted that officers from central and state cadres are deputed to the Union Territory to manage civil services, law enforcement, and municipal governance effectively. In his written statement, Union Minister of State Nityanand Rai stated that officer assignments are managed to maintain smooth administrative functioning across union territory departments. The central government affirmed that official postings remain focused on ensuring administrative stability and responsive public service delivery across Chandigarh.
