GAYA: The Regional Passport Office in Patna announced plans to conduct mobile van camps across Gaya district later this month, extending direct application services to residents in Bodhgaya and Sherghati. Scheduled from September 21 to September 25, 2026, the outreach drive forms part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ broader project aimed at expanding public service delivery in rural and sub-divisional hubs.
The mobile setup will operate at the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee campus on September 21 and 22, before shifting operations to the Sherghati Sub-Divisional Office campus from September 23 to 25. Officials stated that the initiative is designed to relieve processing pressure on the local Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Gaya, where annual application processing grew by over 70 percent between 2021 and 2025.
Regional Passport Officer Swadha Rizvi and District Magistrate Shashank Shubhankar will formally open the Bodhgaya session on September 21. Department representatives affirmed that a total of 275 appointment slots—distributed at 55 slots per day—have been opened on the official portal, urging applicants to secure their bookings online and utilize DigiLocker for document verification.
This initiative marks the 21st mobile camp hosted by the Patna office across Bihar since April 2024, continuing efforts to simplify administrative procedures for citizens across the region. Officials reaffirmed that standard application fees and guidelines notified by the central ministry will apply throughout the five-day event.
