CHANDIGARH: The Asian Hockey Federation extended a formal invitation to Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and a state delegation to attend the hockey semi-finals and finals at the XX Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026. President Fumio Ogura extended the invitation for the women’s and men’s semi-finals on September 30 and October 1, followed by the finals on October 2 and 3.
The visit aims to offer the state delegation first-hand operational insights into hosting major international sporting events as Punjab prepares to host the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026. Scheduled from October 27 to November 5, the continental tournament will be jointly hosted by Jalandhar and Mohali. Jalandhar will host the opening ceremony and league matches, while Mohali will host the semi-finals and final. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed that hosting the tournament marks an emotional homecoming for hockey in Punjab, providing momentum to strengthen the state’s sporting infrastructure and organizational standards.
