New Delhi, Sept 22: Environmental activist and content creator Surendra Singh Choudhary, widely known as Bittu Tabahi, expanded his river restoration initiatives to the Yamuna in Delhi, removing nearly 585 kg of garbage during a four-and-a-half-hour drive. Timed to coincide with World Cleanup Day on September 20, the initiative brought together local volunteers to clear plastic waste, discarded garlands, and religious offerings along the riverbanks.
Choudhary achieved international recognition earlier after undertaking an extensive cleanup of the Ajnar River in Madhya Pradesh, an effort that earned praise from global environmental organizations like The Ocean Cleanup. Supporters and passersby joined the Delhi campaign as the shore was systematically cleared of debris. Taking to social media platforms, Choudhary maintained that his overarching mission involves traveling across different states to clean polluted water bodies and foster environmental responsibility among local communities.
The initiative drew widespread praise online, generating millions of views and encouraging words from citizens urging greater public involvement in conservation. Local supporters affirmed the impact of individual leadership in driving collective environmental action, while Choudhary declared that his next cleanup drive will take place at Khedki Daula in Gurugram.
