NEW DELHI, NOV 1: Large crowds of supporters representing various constituent parties of the opposition INDIA bloc began assembling across the national capital early Sunday morning. Workers gathered at strategic assembly points, including outside Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s residence and near Himachal Bhawan, preparing to proceed toward the primary protest ground at Ramlila Maidan for the scheduled ‘Chalo Dilli’ demonstration.
The coordinated action brings together representatives from 21 partner organizations within the coalition. Top political figures, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and SP President Akhilesh Yadav, are scheduled to travel in open-roof buses starting from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s official residence toward the Minto Road junction in Connaught Place. From that location, party members will initiate a public march passing through Ajmeri Gate before terminating at the historic rally venue.
Organizers structured the mass gathering to raise concerns regarding the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision exercise and broader questions surrounding electoral roll administration. Coalition partners have raised concerns regarding the management of election procedures and requested the step-down of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Cadres from multiple states began arriving in the capital over the weekend to participate in the demonstration.
In response to the expected turnout, the Delhi Police deployed extensive administrative and monitoring measures across central corridors. Over 4,000 security personnel and more than 200 monitoring cameras were positioned across the area, with the central ground structured into 14 distinct security sectors. The security arrangement incorporates aerial surveillance via drones, body-worn operational cameras, specialized crowd-management vehicles, and personnel drawn from Central Armed Police Forces stationed along the movement route.
