Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) officially initiated its campaign for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections by releasing its initial candidate list for 40 constituencies. The selections were finalized during a Political Affairs Committee (PAC) meeting in New Delhi chaired by AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will contest once again from the Dhuri Assembly segment.
Party leaders stated that the candidates were selected based on public feedback gathered through internal surveys. Announcing the names months in advance is intended to grant nominees sufficient time to engage directly with voters and highlight state government initiatives, including local infrastructure upgrades, civic improvements, and educational development.
Senior leadership, including Punjab Prabhari Manish Sisodia, congratulated the nominees and called on party workers to build grassroots momentum. The initial slate features key sitting leaders and ministers—such as Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan from Kotkapura and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal from Ajnala—aiming to build on the party’s 2022 electoral tally.
