Mumbai, Nov 2: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation removed an eco-friendly Diwali campaign video featuring actor Dia Mirza from its social media channels following objections raised by political leaders.
The video message, which encouraged citizens to minimize noise and air pollution during the festival, was taken down after BJP Mumbai chief Ameet Satam posted concerns on social media, asserting that traditional practices remain deeply rooted in cultural heritage.
Following the public remarks, the civic administration led by Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide removed the specific clip from official platforms. However, similar campaign videos featuring actors Madhuri Dixit and Nishigandha Wad, along with cricketer Ajinkya Rahane, remained accessible on the civic body’s official handles.
Civic officials did not offer immediate public comments regarding the decision to withdraw the selective video segment.
