Panchkula, 12 January 2025: A newly hired domestic help, Shyam Bahadur, allegedly drugged his employers and fled with cash and jewellery worth ₹80,000 from their Sector 11 home in Panchkula late Thursday night.
The victim, Jai Bhagwan Bansal, a cement businessman, reported the theft to the police on Friday. He stated that he hired Bahadur as domestic help on January 7, just two days before the incident. “On Thursday, Bahadur served dinner to me, my wife, and our two children. Soon after eating, we all lost consciousness,” said Bansal.
When the family regained consciousness the next morning around 8:30 am, they discovered valuables missing from an almirah and their domestic help gone. CCTV footage from the house revealed Bahadur leaving with two accomplices carrying the stolen items.
Bansal approached the Sector 5 police station, alleging that his family had been drugged and robbed. Based on his complaint, an FIR was registered under Sections 123 (causing hurt by poison) and 306 (theft by clerk or servant) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A police spokesperson confirmed a manhunt has been launched to locate the suspects. “Efforts are underway to apprehend Bahadur and his accomplices,” the official added.
