Jhansi, 22 January 2025: Three men lost their lives when their car collided with a stationary truck on the Jhansi-Lalitpur National Highway near the Babina toll plaza in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday evening, police reported.
The victims, aged between 20 and 25 years, were returning from an engagement ceremony when the accident occurred.
Circle Officer (Sadar) Alok Kumar said the crash happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. as the car’s driver, Karan Vishwakarma, a resident of Siya village in Jhansi district, attempted to avoid a puppy that darted onto the road.
“In an effort to save the puppy, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then rammed into a truck parked on the roadside,” Kumar said.
Vishwakarma had attended his engagement ceremony in Lalitpur earlier that day and was accompanied by his friends, Pradyumna Sen and Pramod Yadav, during the journey back. The impact of the collision left all three men dead at the scene.
“The car was completely smashed,” Kumar added, noting that the victims’ bodies were extricated from the wreckage using a JCB machine before being sent for post-mortem.
The fatal incident has cast a shadow over what was intended to be a celebratory occasion for the Vishwakarma family.
Authorities are investigating further to determine any potential lapses that contributed to the accident.
