Poonch, 13 February 2025: Pakistani troops suffered “heavy casualties” on Wednesday after the Indian Army responded forcefully to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, security officials said.
The ceasefire violation occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector, a day after two Indian Army personnel, including a Captain, were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near the LoC in Jammu’s Akhnoor sector.
According to officials, Pakistani forces initiated unprovoked firing on a forward post in the Tarkundi area, prompting a strong retaliation from the Indian side. “The enemy suffered heavy casualties,” an official said, though no exact figures were provided.
The Indian Army has not officially confirmed or denied the extent of damage inflicted on the Pakistani side.
Meanwhile, in the same sector, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) was injured after stepping on a landmine during a patrol.
The JCO, a resident of Mendhar, was part of a team monitoring the LoC to prevent terrorist infiltration. Officials said he was evacuated to a military hospital for treatment.
