Amritsar, March 4 — Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested two major drug traffickers, Amolak Singh and Mahabir Singh, also known as Goldy.

According to Police, the duo was linked to an earlier case in which seven accused were arrested with 3 kg of heroin, ₹5 lakh in drug money, and vehicles used for smuggling.

Amolak Singh, who ran a drug cartel with his son, had been evading authorities for years. Released from jail in 2019, he remained active in trafficking and was wanted in multiple cases.

Across Punjab, ten FIRs have been registered against him under the NDPS and Arms Act, Police added.

During the operation, police recovered a .30 pistol with two magazines and 15 live cartridges, a .30 single-barrel Springfield rifle with five live cartridges, and ₹1 lakh in drug proceeds.

Preliminary investigation also revealed that Amolak Singh possessed a fake arms license, and further probe may lead to additional recoveries.

“Punjab Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling drug cartels and ensuring a drug-free state.”
