Mohali, June 15: The Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led a major roadshow through Mohali to express gratitude to voters following a decisive victory in the Municipal Corporation elections. The event drew large public gatherings along the transit route, where residents welcomed the leadership from balconies and storefronts. Addressing the crowds, Arvind Kejriwal stated that the state has successfully transitioned away from a highly difficult period marked by widespread narcotics transit and systemic neglect under previous Akali Dal, BJP, and Congress regimes.
Arvind Kejriwal noted that traditional political organizations historically lost public trust so completely that local communities routinely barred their leaders from entering rural areas after a few years in office. He contrasted that pattern with the current administration, stating that the public reception after more than four years in power remains highly favorable. He maintained that the administration has actively prioritized structural updates, including the establishment of regional clinical centers, free household power grids, and the expansion of daytime electricity infrastructure for the agricultural sector. He urged the electorate to continue supporting Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to ensure that ongoing governance reforms do not experience interruptions.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann affirmed that the historic mandate of the 2022 elections effectively dismantled decades of rotating power sharing among entrenched political families who treated governance like an insular game. He stated that regional opposition figures have largely lost visibility among the masses because public support has solidified behind current state policies. He noted that the administration’s primary focus remains sharing the difficulties of ordinary citizens and executing large-scale welfare initiatives. He also congratulated Sarabjit Singh on his appointment as the new Mayor of Mohali, expressing confidence in his energy and dedication to localized public service.
Detailing specific policy successes, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann noted that the state has achieved unprecedented efficiency in agricultural water management, utilizing 96 percent of its canal water capacity this year. He stated that engineering teams successfully laid 14,000 kilometers of new watercourses and released 21,000 cusecs of water to directly support farming operations, an output comparable to two Bhakra canals. He added that the construction of specialized recharge points has successfully elevated groundwater tables by two to four meters across multiple districts.
The Chief Minister further stated that the administration has expanded social security nets through the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, which provides 1,000 rupees monthly to general category women over 18 years of age and 1,500 rupees monthly to women from Scheduled Caste families to enhance financial independence. In the healthcare sector, he noted that the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna now provides every resident family with up to 10 lakh rupees in annual cashless medical treatment. He stated that this universal coverage program has already distributed more than 650 crore rupees in free medical services, marking a significant milestone in national health policy.
