CHANDIGARH, MAY 26 — The Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) experienced a major political shift in the Majha region as senior leader and former Rajya Sabha Member Rajmohinder Singh Majitha officially joined the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann formally inducted the veteran politician, who also serves as the head of the Chief Khalsa Diwan, into the ruling party. The development comes alongside the induction of former Right to Information Commissioner Heminder Singh Majitha and Chief Khalsa Diwan member Sukhdeep Singh Majitha into the party ranks.
“Today marks a very significant and important addition to the Aam Aadmi Party family,” Mann stated on social media, welcoming the new members. “Eminent personalities from Punjab’s religious, social, and political spheres… have joined the AAP family after being impressed by the party’s pro-people policies.”
The Chief Minister noted that the steady influx of political and social figures into the party reflects public support for the state government’s ongoing development initiatives and welfare schemes. Majitha constituency in-charge Talbir Singh Gill attended the event to mark the transition.
Mann affirmed that the administration remains focused on regional growth, adding that the entry of seasoned public figures would provide substantial momentum to state development efforts.
“The support of such experienced leaders, who are deeply committed to the welfare and betterment of Punjab, will further strengthen the dream of building a ‘Rangla Punjab’,” Mann asserted.
