Chandigarh, 11 October, 2024: In response to the Haryana assembly election results, AAP MP Sanjay Singh on Friday attributed Congress’s loss to strategic errors, urging the party to reassess its decisions and noting that an alliance with AAP or the Samajwadi Party could have prevented the “Jat vs. non-Jat politics” that played out in the state.
“There were strategic lapses on multiple fronts, and Congress needs to review them. In Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference and Congress teamed up and won. If a similar alliance had happened in Haryana with AAP or Samajwadi Party, the Jat-non-Jat divide could have been mitigated,” said Singh.
He added that 17 rebel candidates defeated Congress contenders, making victory difficult for the party. He also affirmed that AAP would contest the Delhi elections independently.
In Haryana, Congress secured 37 seats, while BJP won 48 seats in the 90-member assembly, positioning BJP to form its third consecutive government in the state.
