BATALA, APRIL 16 — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has announced a massive development boost for the historic city of Batala, unveiling projects totaling ₹177 crore aimed at overhauling urban infrastructure. The comprehensive plan includes ₹95.72 crore for Municipal Corporation works, over ₹65 crore for road construction by the PWD, and specialized allocations for the Mandi Board to improve local connectivity.
Key focus of the initiative include the construction of three major bridges over the Hansli, Kasur, and Kotla Moosa drains to improve traffic flow. Additionally, the Chief Minister confirmed the upcoming construction of a new bus stand designed to permanently resolve long-standing congestion issues in the city center. A first installment of ₹14.81 crore has also been released for the establishment of new police lines in Batala.
During his address, the Chief Minister maintained that these projects represent a shift toward transparent governance. He affirmed that the state is responsibly utilizing taxpayers’ money for public welfare, contrasting current efforts with the policies of previous administrations. Law enforcement and social services are also receiving attention, with the Chief Minister stating that over 65,000 youngsters have already secured government employment under the current tenure.
The Chief Minister also talked about the success of ongoing social security programs, noting that 90 percent of domestic consumers now receive zero electricity bills. He further asserted that initiatives like the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which offers ₹10 lakh in cashless treatment, and the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna for women, are fundamental to the state’s vision of a self-reliant Punjab.
