NEW DELHI, APRIL 17 — Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu has issued a series of statements following recent federal raids on Punjab Minister Sanjeev Arora, suggesting that the scope of the investigation could expand to include high-profile witnesses. During a media interaction, Bittu stated that Raghav Chadha might potentially provide testimony regarding the matter, declaring that internal shifts could lead to significant disclosures.
The Union Minister specifically addressed allegations regarding land use in Punjab. He noted that a substantial tract of land on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road, which was originally designated for industrial development and job creation, was allegedly diverted for the construction of private residential flats. Bittu affirmed that this transition from public industrial use to private gain is a core issue that warrants scrutiny.
When questioned about the evidence supporting his claims, Bittu maintained that it is the responsibility of the media and investigative bodies to bring the full facts to light. He also stated that Arora has made frequent trips to Dubai, asserting that these travels might be linked to overseas financial transactions. These claims currently remain unverified by official agencies.
Regarding the timing of the Enforcement Directorate’s actions, Bittu declared that federal agencies like the ED and CBI operate with complete independence. He dismissed assertions that the raids were influenced by political considerations, affirming that the law will take its own course. He further shared his stance on social media, noting that accountability would eventually reach all those involved in the alleged irregularities.
