Blast Reported Near Amritsar Police Station, 12 Held

Amritsar, 17 December 2024: A blast occurred outside Islamabad police station in Amritsar around 4 a.m. on Tuesday, triggering concern in the area. Police teams arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information and launched an investigation into the incident.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who visited the site, stated that 12 individuals have been arrested in connection with recent incidents involving multiple police stations under Amritsar Commissionerate and Amritsar Rural.

“The arrested individuals are being thoroughly interrogated, and efforts are ongoing to locate others involved,” Bhullar said.

One suspect, Aman Khokhar, remains absconding, while three more individuals are under the police radar. “These kinds of incidents appear to be attempts by group leaders to demonstrate power after their members are apprehended,” Bhullar added.

No materials from the blast have been recovered so far, and there has been no reported damage to life or property. Authorities assured that all individuals connected to the group will soon be arrested as the investigation progresses.

The blast is the latest in a series of incidents reported across police jurisdictions in Amritsar in recent days, raising concerns over security in the region.
