Shimla: Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced today that the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) will soon add 300 new buses to its current fleet of 3,000 in order to improve services for commuters.
This announcement was made during the event marking HRTC’s 50th anniversary.
He also mentioned efforts to replace the entire fleet of 24 Volvo buses operated by HRTC. Agnihotri emphasized that despite facing losses, HRTC remains dedicated to serving the people of Himachal Pradesh, especially given the limited rail and air connectivity in the state.
Agnihotri inaugurated a museum and a Wall of Honor at the corporation’s main office in the old bus stand.
He explained that the Wall of Honor highlights HRTC’s journey since 1974, showcasing important decisions and awards.
Additionally, models of HRTC buses are displayed at various locations, he added.
The event was attended by HRTC Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur, senior officials, and other dignitaries.
