AMRITSAR, MAY 30 — Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Saturday launched an automated electronic traffic enforcement system in Amritsar, making it the fourth urban center in the state to transition to digital penalty processing.
The implementation of the e-Challan initiative follows successful deployments in SAS Nagar, Jalandhar, and Ludhiana. Speaking during an official visit to the district, the state’s top police official stated that the transition represents a deliberate move toward technology-driven monitoring to ensure cleaner road safety protocols, streamlined traffic management, and absolute administrative transparency across the commissionerate.
“Today, visited Amritsar and chaired a comprehensive law and order review meeting with senior officers to assess emerging crime trends, strengthen preventive policing strategies, and further enhance public safety and security,” Yadav stated.
As part of the infrastructure expansion in the border region, the Director General of Police also inaugurated the newly constructed Mohkampura police station. Developed under the regional Smart City Project, the facility is designed to improve civic interaction and update administrative workflows for the local population.
The state chief utilized the field visit to recognize outstanding field performance within the ranks. Yadav presented official DGP Commendation Discs, meritorious certificates, and cash incentives to deserving personnel, noting that acknowledging high professional dedication remains central to maintaining force morale.
