Chandigarh, 30 November 2024 – The weather in Punjab and Chandigarh is expected to remain dry today and for the next seven days, according to the Meteorological Department. However, snowfall and rain in the northern mountains could bring a significant dip in temperatures in December, intensifying the winter chill in the region.
Air quality remains a concern in Punjab, with districts like Ludhiana and Amritsar recording AQI levels above 200, indicating poor air quality. Other cities in Punjab have AQI levels ranging between 100 and 200, while Chandigarh maintains comparatively better air quality, staying below 200. Experts attribute the pollution to seasonal changes and human activities, warning of potential health risks, especially for vulnerable groups.
Health experts advise taking extra care of children during this transitional period. Temperature fluctuations between day and night increase the risk of illnesses like colds and fevers. Parents are urged to ensure children wear warm clothing, especially during mornings and evenings. Additionally, experts caution against removing layers of warm clothing in the afternoon, as negligence can lead to seasonal ailments.
With Western Disturbances set to activate, residents are advised to prepare for colder days ahead while adhering to pollution mitigation and health safety measures.
