Chandigarh, June 19:Scientific evidence from two separate laboratories recognized by the Government of India has dismantled an online misinformation campaign targeting Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. A micro-analysis of 1,191 frames from the viral video established that the physical traits, including facial structure, posture, and side profiles, show no correlation with the Chief Minister.
The investigation revealed a significant physical discrepancy, noting that the individual in the footage stands at approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall. In contrast, Chief Minister Mann is 5 feet 8 inches tall, rendering the narrative scientifically impossible. Senior administrative officials stated that the fabrication was explicitly designed to disrupt regional harmony and weaken the government’s standing among citizens.
Addressing the media, Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema declared that traditional political rivals are attempting to manipulate public sentiments after failing to counter the current administration’s legislative success.
“Anti-panth and anti-Punjab forces tried to hurt religious sentiments through fabricated video,” the Minister asserted.
He maintained that the smear campaign gained momentum immediately after the state introduced the stringent Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act, which penalizes sacrilege with severe legal punishments.
The Minister noted that past leaderships repeatedly compromised the state’s interests, citing historical administrative failures during the 1986 Nakodar incident and the 2015 unrest, where previous regimes failed to secure justice for the public. State media coordinator Baltej Pannu described the digital manipulation as one of the most coordination-heavy attempts to defame a sitting leader in regional history, adding that an official delegation has updated the police department to ensure a comprehensive international probe into the source of the video.

According to the findings, the person depicted in the recording possesses a completely distinct facial layout and stands two inches taller than Chief Minister Mann. Representatives stated that the video was initially offered to mainstream media organizations under false pretenses, but responsible news outlets declined to broadcast it after realizing its fraudulent nature.
State Media In-Charge Baltej Pannu affirmed that the ruling party is treating the incident as a serious breach of public trust and has demanded a full-scale police inquiry.
“2 independent forensic reports confirm no match between viral video and CM Bhagwant Singh Mann,” the official declared.
He noted that the administration will not allow malicious digital fabrications to impact the social stability of Punjab.
The administration noted that the individuals behind the smear campaign are likely trying to divert attention from ongoing judicial proceedings related to historical sacrilege cases, such as the Kotkapura and Behbal Kalan incidents. Officials maintained that previous governments protected wrongdoers and suppressed inquiry commission reports for years. They asserted that the current government remains focused on transparent development and inclusive growth, promising that all operators behind the digital conspiracy will face strict legal accountability.
