Haryana Youth Arrested After Issuing Bomb Threats to Uttarakhand Police Stations

A cyber investigation led to the apprehension of an Ambala resident

Dehradun, June 29: The Uttarakhand Police apprehended a youth from Ambala, Haryana, following an Instagram post that threatened to blow up multiple police stations across the state. Cyber experts tracked the suspect by analyzing digital footprints left on the social media platform after the threat emerged. The arrest took place on Sunday evening, just before the suspect could execute a plan to surrender to legal authorities.

Security agencies had been on high alert after messages circulated online warning that installations would be targeted on June 25. Dehradun City SP Parmod Kumar declared that the suspect, identified as Jaspreet, was intercepted following a coordinated raid. “The accused had contacted legal counsel and was planning to surrender, but police teams managed to arrest him beforehand,” affirmed SP Kumar, adding that the individual was produced before a local court on Monday.

During the initial interrogation, the youth disclosed to investigators that he had been influenced by certain organizations. Officials asserted that the threatening digital post was specifically linked to the recent Karnprayag incident. The investigation has now expanded to look into wider networks that may have driven the online provocation.

This arrest follows a wave of digital intimidation targeting public infrastructure across the state. Haridwar Senior Superintendent of Police Navneet Singh stated that security agencies also intercepted a threatening email targeting major public places, prompting immediate deployments of the Bomb Disposal Squad and canine units. Dehradun City SP Parmod Kumar maintained that the Special Task Force has joined the ongoing investigation to track the IP addresses behind the multiple email threats.
