Dausa, July 1: Eight passengers lost their lives and twenty-four others sustained various injuries after a long-distance tourist bus rammed into a moving truck and burst into flames early Wednesday morning. The devastating crash took place near Dhanawda village under the Kolwa police station jurisdiction along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway infrastructure in Rajasthan’s Dausa district.
Emergency first responders, local police units, and firefighting teams rushed to the site immediately to launch a coordinated rescue operation once the raging flames were brought under control. Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit stated that five individuals were trapped inside and burnt alive as the fire rapidly consumed the vehicle structure. Dixit affirmed that two passengers died on the spot due to severe head injuries sustained during the initial impact, while an additional victim succumbed to critical burn injuries after being rushed to a nearby medical facility.
The commercial vehicle, managed by Hans Travels, was transporting passengers from Rishikesh in Uttarakhand toward Indore in Madhya Pradesh when it struck the freight carrier from behind. Additional Superintendent of Police Shankar Lal declared that one of the two individuals who passed away from head trauma has been identified as Dharmendra, adding that official procedures are underway to verify the identities of the remaining victims. Lal maintained that the injured survivors are currently undergoing medical care at the Dausa district hospital, where their clinical conditions have been declared stable by attending physicians.
