New Delhi, August 8: A serving Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force has been taken into custody by law enforcement authorities for allegedly sharing classified defense information with foreign operatives through social media platforms.
The officer was placed under active surveillance by internal air force intelligence before being handed over to Delhi Police following concrete actionable inputs.
“He was under active surveillance and was handed over to the suitable law enforcement agencies,” an Indian Air Force spokesperson stated, adding that proactive monitoring prevented broader security breaches. The defense establishment reaffirmed its strict zero-tolerance position regarding unauthorized disclosure of classified operational data.
Investigators maintained that the officer was targeted by Pakistani intelligence operatives posing online, eventually compromising confidential documents. Police sources further asserted that the accused attempted to compromise a peer’s device by installing data-harvesting software to expand access to restricted information.
The accused remains in judicial custody while multi-agency teams examine electronic devices to ascertain the full extent of the digital breach.
