Tarn Taran, October 22, 2024: A leopard sighting near Kang village’s Government School has sparked concern among local residents with villagers seeing the animal roaming close to the school premises, and its presence confirmed by CCTV footage capturing the leopard scaling the school wall.

In response to the scare, the school staff immediately locked the facility and relocated classes to a nearby Gurdwara Sahib to ensure student safety.

“The leopard was spotted climbing over the school wall, which prompted us to take immediate action,” a staff member said.

The forest department was alerted, and officials visited the village, assuring residents that efforts were underway to capture the leopard by setting up a cage. “We have taken necessary steps to ensure the safety of the villagers and are monitoring the situation closely,” a forest department official stated.

This incident brings back memories of a similar scare from seven years ago when a leopard was captured near the same school.

Authorities are now working to prevent any further incidents and maintain safety in the area.
