Patiala, June 16: The Municipal Corporation of Patiala secured a new administrative leader as senior PCS officer Simrpreet Kaur officially assumed the role of Additional Commissioner. Upon taking office, she was formally welcomed by Joint Commissioner Manreet Rana alongside a gathering of branch officers and civic employees.
The newly appointed Additional Commissioner immediately outlined an administrative roadmap aligned closely with the overarching vision of the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann. Working under the guidance of Mayor Kundan Gogia and Commissioner Pooja Sial Grewal, she declared that her office will maintain a sharp focus on enhancing public utility delivery. She affirmed that accelerating localized infrastructure projects to ensure they reach completion within designated timeframes stands as a core objective for her tenure.
Sanitation and urban cleanliness emerged as a major focal point for the incoming administrator. Simrpreet Kaur noted that her strategy involves building directly upon the hybrid mechanized cleaning systems recently launched by Local Government Minister Harjot Singh Bains. She maintained that the ultimate objective is to transform Patiala into a leading model city for urban sanitation. To achieve this, she asserted that the civic body will actively seek out and integrate the support of various local non-governmental organizations and community groups that are already dedicated to environmental causes in the area.
Bringing more than a decade of administrative experience to the Municipal Corporation, the 2014-batch officer possesses deep roots in regional governance. She previously served the area as Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner General, and Chief Administrator of the Patiala Development Authority. Her extensive career also includes tenures as Secretary of the Punjab Public Service Commission, Sub-Divisional Magistrate across multiple locations including Nabha and Dirba, and specialized roles within the Excise, Water Supply and Sanitation, and Public Works Departments.
