Chandigarh, May 3: The Punjab government announced today that its flagship healthcare initiative, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, has facilitated medical treatments worth over ₹465.36 crore. Official data indicates that more than 42 lakh health cards have been issued to date, with 2.77 lakh treatments successfully processed across the state.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh stated that the program is significantly enhancing healthcare accessibility. He noted that the approval of 2.77 lakh pre-authorization requests demonstrates a high level of public trust in the state-funded system.

“The scheme provides financial security when it is needed most,” Dr. Balbir Singh affirmed. He urged eligible residents who have not yet registered to enroll immediately to ensure they are protected against sudden medical costs.

The initiative is designed as a universal program, removing barriers related to age, gender, or income. Under its provisions, every family in Punjab is eligible for up to ₹10 lakh in annual cashless treatment at both government and empanelled private hospitals, covering major surgeries and critical illnesses.

To expand the reach of the program, the state has launched an intensive series of registration camps. These units are operating daily in various local venues, including Panchayat Ghars, Gurudwaras, and community centers.

“Our staff is present at these locations to guide people and complete registration on the spot,” the Health Minister declared. He stated that the government is working to clear misunderstandings, reiterating that the scheme is available to all Punjab residents and not restricted by economic status.
