Chandigarh, August 4: The Punjab Government affirmed its commitment to healthcare access on World Lung Cancer Day, reporting that 708 patients across the state received cashless medical interventions amounting to 3.43 crore rupees under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana.
Detailing the administrative vision, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Balbir Singh affirmed that financial constraints should never prevent patients from accessing standard clinical care or timely screening.
Expressing optimism regarding preventative benchmarks, the Health Minister stated, “On World Lung Cancer Day, Punjab’s recent achievement as the state with the lowest prevalence of tobacco use in the country, as recognised by the National Family Health Survey, reflects the success of our sustained awareness campaigns.”
Data compiled by the State Health Agency indicates that male beneficiaries accounted for 413 cases receiving 1.89 crore rupees in care, while 295 female beneficiaries received treatments totaling 1.53 crore rupees. The 61 to 75 age bracket represented the highest demographic, comprising 286 patients.
District-level records show Bathinda leading with 179 beneficiaries receiving 1.46 crore rupees in medical support, followed by Sangrur with 163 patients and Faridkot with 149 recipients.
Reaffirming official priorities, Dr Balbir Singh maintained that the state administration remains dedicated to expanding early detection frameworks and promoting holistic wellness initiatives like CM Di Yogshala to support patient recovery.
