Chandigarh, April 29: The Punjab government has announced the continued distribution of a monthly pension amounting to Rs 11,000 for the state’s freedom fighters and their eligible dependents. Minister for Freedom Fighters, Defence Services Welfare, and Horticulture, Mohinder Bhagat, stated on Wednesday that the financial aid extends to widows as well as unmarried and unemployed children of those who served the nation.
Minister Bhagat asserted that the administration, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, views the welfare of these families as a top priority. He noted that the contribution of these individuals to the country’s independence remains invaluable and serves as a permanent source of inspiration for the youth. The Minister maintained that the government is dedicated to ensuring that the families of these national heroes live with dignity and receive the recognition they deserve.
During his address in Chandigarh, the Minister declared that the state is working expeditiously to reach every section of society with welfare initiatives. He affirmed that the pension scheme is part of a broader effort to provide every possible assistance to the descendants of those who sacrificed for the country. He maintained that the government remains committed to upholding the honor and financial security of these households through consistent policy implementation.
