Chandigarh/Sangrur, 07 October 2024: The village of Satoj, the native village of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has unanimously elected Harbans Singh Happy as Sarpanch.
This development follows Chief Minister Mann’s recent appeal to the village to elect a Sarpanch without opposition and urged people to refrain from using money and power during the democratic process.
Three candidates initially submitted their nomination papers, but two withdrew in support of Happy, facilitating his unanimous election.
Gyan Singh, the Chief Minister’s cousin, confirmed that Happy has been elected Sarpanch today.
Mann had encouraged villagers across Punjab to choose their leaders unanimously to foster mutual fraternity and drive development in their communities.
He believes that such consensus in panchayat elections will lead to greater prosperity for the state.
