CHANDIGARH, MAY 26 — The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has initiated a suo moto inquiry into a viral video involving Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring over his alleged use of derogatory remarks.

Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi stated that the regulatory body stepped in after the matter was formally brought to its attention by Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Baljit Kaur. The panel noted that the regional Congress leader reportedly used objectionable, caste-based language targeting Dalit communities during an active election campaign event.

“This matter was brought to the notice of the commission by Cabinet Minister Baljit Kaur,” Garhi stated, adding that the panel views the documentation as a serious matter requiring an immediate official probe.

The commission has directed the Senior Superintendent of Police of Sri Muktsar Sahib to submit a comprehensive factual report regarding the incident by May 29, 2026.

To establish the authenticity of the recording, the oversight body instructed law enforcement to secure voice samples from Warring for comparative analysis. Garhi affirmed that a detailed forensic examination of the digital file will be conducted to verify that the footage has not been altered before the final findings are handed over to the state administration.
