CHANDIGARH, JUNE 3 — A group of prominent sports personalities, including international kabaddi player Kinda Biharipuria, formally entered public service by joining the Aam Aadmi Party.
The induction ceremony, held under the supervision of Rajbir Singh Ghuman, officer on special duty to the chief minister, marks an expanding base of support within the state’s traditional athletic circles. Ghuman stated that the decisions made by these public figures underscore a deep-seated public trust in the administration’s long-term governance strategies and structural programs.
The newly inducted members affirmed that their decision was guided by systemic changes across multiple civic portfolios, including structural reforms in education, public health infrastructure, and youth employment networks.
“The AAP government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been working tirelessly for the welfare of every section of society, including the youth and the sports community,” Ghuman affirmed during the welcome address, noting that the presence of these athletic icons will assist in extending public outreach programs at the village level.
The intake includes a diverse cross-section of the region’s sports ecosystem. Alongside Biharipuria, who holds a widespread reputation under the sporting moniker “Cheetah,” international kabaddi players Jeeta Badalgarh, Babbu Jhaneri, and Saima Ghrachon took oaths of party membership.
The sports delegation was further supported by competitive players Malkit Singh and Barinder Singh, as well as respected athletic official Satgur Jhaneri, who has served extensively as a referee in regional matches.
Representatives from the sports media and local youth leadership blocks also participated in the collective political transition. International athletic commentator Kulbir Timberwal joined the cadre, alongside youth organizers Amrinder Singh Rorian and Satnam Singh Virk, accompanied by local advocates Manjot Singh and Hardeep Singh.
The incoming members declared that the administration’s visible trajectory over recent years provided the primary motivation for their formal political alignment. They maintained that the transparent execution of public initiatives across the state offered a viable template for sustainable community development, which they now intend to support through active grassroots participation.
