Traffic Violation: 23,000 Challans Recorded In Mohali

Mohali, 21 January 2025: Mohali traffic police issued 23,048 challans and impounded 205 vehicles during an intensified drive against traffic violations from December 15 to January 19, according to data released on Monday.

The last 16 days of December accounted for 9,571 challans, with 74 vehicles impounded. Police reported that December 26 saw the highest number of daily challans at 747, while New Year’s Eve witnessed 700 violations, along with 29 vehicles impounded.

The trend continued into 2025, with 13,477 challans and 131 vehicle impoundments in the first 19 days of January. The most significant enforcement day was January 9, when 1,622 challans were issued and 12 vehicles seized.

Commenting on the situation, Mohali SSP Deepak Pareek said, “Our teams are working round the clock to streamline traffic in Mohali. Regular challaning is being done for violations, but our objective is not to impose fines. We want commuters to follow traffic rules for their own safety.”

The report highlights the persistent issue of traffic violations in Mohali and the authorities’ efforts to curb the growing menace.
