SANGRUR, JULY 28 — Swift action by law enforcement authorities led to the apprehension of two youths who allegedly hurled a petrol bomb at the local BJP office during the early hours of Monday. Operating in close coordination with Counter Intelligence teams, Sangrur Police tracked down the suspects within 24 hours of the incident, recovering the motorcycle used in the crime alongside the mobile phones utilized to record the attack.

Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police Ravjot Grewal stated that special operational teams were formed immediately under Superintendent of Police Davinder Attri to trace the culprits.

“These teams, with the help of human and technical Intelligence, traced the perpetrators of the incident, Happy Singh, alias Happy, of Bhamabaddi, Police Station Longowal; and Jaspreet Singh, alias Jassi, of Ward No. 12, Shaheed Udham Singh Basti, Police Station Lehra, within 24 hours and arrested them,” SSP Ravjot Grewal stated.

Investigating officers affirmed that the early morning attack, which occurred around 2:45 am, left scorch marks on the exterior wall near the kitchen area. While the office was empty at the time and no injuries occurred, officials noted the low-intensity blast could have escalated had secondary materials ignited. Both suspects have been booked under the Explosives Act.

Police officials declared that financial traces are central to establishing the broader conspiracy.

“It has been revealed from the preliminary interrogation that the perpetrators were in contact with a person named Rana Bhai through social media. He had promised them a large amount of money to carry out this crime and send the video of the incident to him, out of which a total of Rs 2,200 had been sent by Rana Bhai through two transactions,” Grewal added.

Grewal maintained that technical teams are analyzing digital footprints and payment trails. “According to the investigation, the accused had also made a video of the incident so that they could send the video to Rana Bhai and get the said amount from him. The said mobile phones have also been recovered. An investigation is being carried out regarding Rana’s social media accounts and UPI IDs of the transactions made to the accused,” he asserted.
