Chandigarh, 15 December 2024: Nine cadets from Mohali’s prestigious armed forces preparatory institutes have been commissioned into the Indian Army and Indian Air Force.
The newly commissioned officers include eight from the Maharaja Ranjit Singh Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (MRSAFPI) and one from the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, both in SAS Nagar (Mohali).
Six cadets from MRSAFPI joined the Army after the Indian Military Academy’s (IMA) passing-out parade in Dehradun, reviewed by Nepal Army Chief General Ashokraj Sigdel. The commissioned officers include Kritin Gupta (Ludhiana), Bhart Sharma and Sahildeep Singh (Amritsar), Sahilpreet Singh Sandhu (Patiala), Shiv Kumar (Kapurthala), and Uttam Malik (Bathinda).
Additionally, Gursher Singh Cheema (Sangrur) and Pratham Parmar (Kapurthala), also from MRSAFPI, were commissioned as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force during the 214th combined passing-out parade at the Air Force Academy (AFA) Dundigal. The event was reviewed by Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of the Indian Air Force.
From the Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute for Girls, Arshdeep Kaur has been commissioned into the Meteorology Branch of the Air Force as a Flying Officer. A native of Khamano in Fatehgarh Sahib, she is the daughter of businessman Daljinder Pal Singh.
Directors of both institutes expressed pride in their cadets’ accomplishments. Major General Ajay H Chauhan, VSM (Retd), Director of MRSAFPI, congratulated the officers and urged them to uphold the values of the armed forces.
Similarly, Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, AVSM (Retd), Director of AFPI, extended his best wishes to Flying Officer Arshdeep Kaur for a successful career in the Air Force.
The achievements of these cadets continue the legacy of these institutes in nurturing future leaders for India’s armed forces.
