Amritsar, March 8—Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced the establishment of two Brainstorming Centers in Amritsar and Mohali, modeled after Munich’s Speakers Platform, to provide students with a space to share business-related ideas.
Speaking at Khalsa College on International Women’s Day, Mann said the initiative builds on the state’s existing Business Blasters program, which encourages brainstorming at the school level. “We have already distributed ₹11 crore to students under this initiative,” he said, adding that the goal is to create a platform where innovative business ideas can take shape.
Addressing the occasion, Mann acknowledged the contributions of women in society and cited Sikh Gurus’ respect for women. He also raised concerns about issues such as female feticide, emphasizing that girls have excelled in all fields, breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated professions.
Mann noted that Punjab has integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) into various sectors, including policing, agriculture, and finance, to enhance efficiency and transparency. He urged students to embrace the digital age, stating that Punjab aims to lead in technological innovation, with a focus on vocational education and skill development.
“Education should go beyond degrees—it should equip students with skills to earn a livelihood and serve society,” Mann said. He also praised the increasing representation of women in governance, highlighting that his government has appointed 11 women MLAs, eight female Deputy Commissioners, three Senior Superintendents of Police, one Police Commissioner, and seven Secretaries in different departments.
Mann further announced that Punjab will be the first state to involve women in the fire brigade, citing the introduction of modern firefighting vehicles designed for congested areas and high-rise buildings. “This change is essential to ensure effective fire services,” he said.
