IPL 2025: Black Bands to Honor Pahalgam Attack Victims

IPL 2025: Players and umpires will wear black bands on the field during the IPL 2025 match between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad to pay tribute to those killed in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. 26 people have died in this attack on Tuesday, including two foreign nationals. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is deeply saddened by this incident and tribute will be paid to the victims during the match between Hyderabad and Mumbai on Wednesday.

Silence will be observed before the match starts

While the players and umpires of both the teams will wear black bands during the match, a minute’s silence will also be observed before the match starts. Not only this, there will be no cheerleaders on the field for this match. People from the sports world have expressed grief over the Pahalgam terrorist attack and expressed condolences to the victim’s family. After this terrorist attack, many former players have paid tribute to the victims on social media. In a report the players of both the teams will play wearing black bands and will observe a minute’s silence in memory of those who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. There will be no cheerleaders during the match between Mumbai Indians and Hyderabad. No firecrackers will be burst.

Most of the dead are tourists

26 people, mostly tourists, were killed in a terrorist attack on Tuesday afternoon at a tourist spot known as ‘Mini Switzerland’ near Pahalgam town of Jammu and Kashmir. This is the deadliest attack in the valley after the Pulwama attack in 2019. Baisaran, about six kilometers from Pahalgam town, is a vast grassland surrounded by dense forests of pine trees and mountains and is a favorite place among tourists from the country and the world. Regarding the Pahalgam attack, officials and eyewitnesses said that armed terrorists entered the ‘Mini Switzerland’ and started firing at tourists who were roaming around restaurants, riding mules, picnicking. The Resistance Front (TRF), a front organisation of the banned terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) based in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
