Lucknow, Sept 11: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials during a Public Works Department review meeting in Lucknow on Friday to immediately repair roads damaged by continuous rains and floods to ensure they remain motorable. The Chief Minister emphasized that permanent renewal and comprehensive restoration work should be undertaken across the state immediately following the conclusion of the monsoon season.
Highlighting the upcoming festive season—including Ganesh Chaturthi, Vishwakarma Puja, Navratri, Diwali, Chhath Puja, and Kartik Purnima—the state government has identified 681 critical routes experiencing high traffic volume. Adityanath stated that repair work must not be restricted to temporary patchwork, ordering priority focus on roads near educational institutions, hospitals, government offices, and major public markets.
The review covered an extensive network of approximately 4.36 lakh kilometers of roads managed across nine state departments. Under the state’s ongoing campaign to make 50,000 kilometers of roads pothole-free, progress has been recorded on 5,751 kilometers so far, alongside 14,000 kilometers of road renewal works already completed.
Departments were further instructed to account for road damage caused by heavy transport vehicles operating near major expressway, highway, and railway infrastructure projects. Senior cabinet ministers, including Swatantra Dev Singh, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’, and Om Prakash Rajbhar, attended the review meeting alongside key state officials.
