Chandigarh: The Punjab Health and Family Welfare Department has announced a major acceleration in the distribution of Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana cards, with around 33 lakh cards expected to reach various districts shortly. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh affirmed that approximately 31 lakh cards have already been dispatched to district offices, with an additional two lakh cards arriving in the coming days as part of the state’s drive toward universal healthcare coverage.
To ensure efficient distribution, the state government has mapped out over 2,008 villages and wards containing more than 400 eligible beneficiaries each. Dedicated distribution camps will be set up across these identified locations to allow citizens to collect their cards locally, with field staff, ASHA workers, and Sehat Mitras facilitating outreach and mobilization.
Following the formal launch of the distribution drive by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the camp-based rollout aims to complete local distribution within a one-week timeframe. For smaller areas with fewer than 400 beneficiaries, as well as for cards remaining uncollected after the camps, the department will rely on an active door-to-door delivery campaign.
To incentivize field personnel during the home delivery phase, the government has announced a financial incentive of 10 rupees per card for ASHA workers and 2 rupees per card for ASHA facilitators upon successful delivery. The State Health Agency has supplied districts with necessary materials, including card jackets and informational brochures, while directing officials to ensure complete coverage within two weeks of the camp phase.
