NEW DELHI, May 11 — Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Sunday shared a deeply emotional message on the occasion of Mother’s Day, expressing gratitude for the unconditional love and strength he has received from the women in his life.
“Mothers don’t always ask for much, but they give everything—love, strength, patience, and a kind of selflessness that holds families together,” Yuvraj wrote in a post on his official Instagram handle.
“I’ve been lucky to grow up with that, and to still be surrounded by it every day. Happy Mother’s Day! Thank you for everything. Love you all always,” he added.
The message was accompanied by heartfelt acknowledgments to his mother, Shabnam Singh, and his wife, Hazel Keech, both of whom he tagged in the post, recognizing their vital roles in shaping his personal and professional journey.
Yuvraj, who made his international debut in 2000, retired from cricket in 2019 after a decorated career that saw him represent India in 398 matches across all formats and amass over 11,000 runs.
A dynamic presence on the field, Yuvraj earned a reputation for delivering in big moments.
Among his most iconic performances is his blitz against England in the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, where he hit six consecutive sixes off Stuart Broad in one over—a feat that included a record-setting fifty in just 12 balls, still the fastest in T20 Internationals.
Coming in after the fall of Robin Uthappa’s wicket, Yuvraj unleashed a brutal assault in the 19th over, powering India to a total of 218. The Men in Blue eventually clinched the match by 18 runs and went on to win the inaugural T20 World Cup, with Yuvraj playing a pivotal role throughout the tournament.
Equally memorable was his all-round performance in India’s victorious 2011 ICC World Cup campaign. Yuvraj became the first player in World Cup history to score over 300 runs and take 15 wickets in a single edition.
His efforts earned him four Man of the Match awards and the coveted Man of the Tournament title.
After nearly two decades in international cricket—comprising 304 ODIs, 58 T20Is, and 40 Test matches—Yuvraj announced his retirement in 2019, leaving behind a legacy defined by fearless batting, sharp fielding, and match-winning contributions.
Now 38, Yuvraj continues to inspire fans off the field, sharing glimpses of his personal life and reflections on moments that shaped his journey.
On this Mother’s Day, his tribute stood as a reminder of the strength drawn not just from the game, but from the quiet, unwavering support behind it.
