NEW DELHI, May 13 — Girls have once again outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 12 board examinations, securing a pass percentage of 91.64%, over five points higher than their male counterparts, officials announced on Tuesday.
“Girls have outshined boys with a significant margin,” said CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj. Boys recorded a pass percentage of 85.70%.
This year, 88.39% of candidates cleared the Class 12 exams, marking a modest increase from last year’s 87.98%.
In a remarkable outcome, transgender candidates achieved a 100% pass rate, a sharp improvement from 50% in the previous year.
Out of the 16,92,794 students who appeared for the examinations, 1,11,544 scored above 90%, while 24,867 students secured marks above 95%.
However, challenges remain for some candidates, as over 1.29 lakh students have been placed in the compartment category and will need to reappear to qualify.
The CBSE is expected to release further region-wise and school-type performance breakdowns in the coming days.
