Kane Williamson Rejects Central Contract Again- Focuses on Global T20 Leagues!

July 3, New Zealand Cricket:  Former captain Kane Williamson has again rejected a central contract with New Zealand Cricket and is doubtful for next month’s two-Test series against Zimbabwe. In order to play in T20s and other leagues worldwide,Kane Williamson had also declined a central deal last year. Rather, he signed an unofficial contract last year, participated in nine of New Zealand’s thirteen Test matches in 2024, and amassed over 1,000 runs.

New Zealand Cricket released the list of 20 players

Williamson’s name is not included in the list of 20 contracted players released by New Zealand Cricket on Tuesday. Apart from them, Devon Conway, Finn Allen, Tim Seifert and Lockie Ferguson are also not included in this list. All these players are playing in T20 leagues abroad. Williamson is likely to sign an unofficial contract again.

Williamson is currently out of the country

All-rounders Muhammad Abbas and Jack Fowlkes, wicketkeeper Mitch Hay and spinner Adi Ashok have been given contracts for the first time. Williamson currently plays for Middlesex in the English County Championship and T20 Blast and for London Spirit in The Hundred.
