New Delhi, June 6: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta received a death threat late Thursday night, triggering a high-alert response across police departments in Delhi and Ghaziabad.
According to officials, the threat was issued via a phone call to the Police Control Room (PCR) in Ghaziabad around 11 pm. Authorities deemed the warning serious, prompting swift coordination between the two jurisdictions.
In response, Delhi Police heightened security around the Chief Minister and key government buildings. An investigation was immediately launched, and initial findings have identified the caller, though the mobile number was found switched off shortly after the threat, making the suspect difficult to trace at present.
“Efforts are underway to locate the person behind the call. Teams are coordinating across jurisdictions to trace the suspect,” a senior police official said.
Security has been intensified around the Chief Minister as a precaution. Police said they are treating the matter with utmost seriousness and are pursuing all leads.
Further developments are awaited as the probe continues.
