Chandigarh, Aug. 17 — Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced the disbursement of ₹76 crore in financial assistance to 2,020 families under the state’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana (Dayalu).

The amount was credited directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. Addressing the program, Saini said a “sensitive government must act as the head of the family, offering support in times of adversity.”

Launched on April 1, 2023, the Dayalu scheme provides financial cover to families earning up to ₹1.80 lakh annually. It ensures up to ₹5 lakh assistance in the event of the untimely death or permanent disability of a family member between the ages of 6 and 60.

According to the chief minister, the scheme has become a “crucial safety net” for the state’s poorest households. “Since its inception, 36,651 families have collectively received assistance worth ₹1,380 crore,” Saini noted.

Alongside the welfare push, the chief minister reiterated his government’s stance on law and order. He said strict measures were being taken against drug traffickers and urged residents to report incidents. “If drugs are being sold anywhere, residents should file a complaint on the government portal. Prompt action will be taken against the culprits and identity of the informer will be kept confidential,” he said.

Saini added that the government was also strengthening public health facilities. “State-of-the-art infrastructure is being provided in government hospitals and 10 new district hospitals will be inaugurated soon,” he said.

The chief minister concluded by stressing that welfare and security remain parallel priorities. “The state government has zero tolerance towards criminal activities affecting the law and order situation in Haryana,” he said.
