New Delhi, 1 September 2025: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday announced he would visit Punjab to take stock of flood damage to farmlands, even as a central inter-ministerial team began spot assessments in the state.
Chouhan chaired a high-level meeting with senior officials to review the agricultural impact of incessant rains across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir. He said the Centre was committed to supporting farmers through the crisis.
“I especially wish to assure my farmer friends in Punjab not to worry about anything. The Union Government stands firmly with them in this hour of crisis. I will soon visit the flood-affected areas of Punjab and meet with the farmers,” Chouhan said after the meeting.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has deployed a central team to Punjab to conduct field inspections and gather first-hand data on crop losses. The team is expected to coordinate with the state government to determine the scale of relief and compensation.
