ZIRAKPUR, Nov 9 – In a broad daylight attack on the busy Zirakpur–Patiala National Highway, unidentified bike-borne assailants fired multiple gunshots at Gagan, son of the owner of MM Crown hotel, on Saturday, police said.

According to officials, the attackers fired five rounds before fleeing the scene, leaving behind panic and damaged vehicles. Two cars parked outside the hotel were struck by bullets. The victim, Gagan, told police he managed to identify one of the masked shooters as Shubham Pandit, a resident of Yamunanagar.

Soon after the incident, locals alerted police, following which Station House Officer (SHO) Satinder Singh and his team reached the spot and began an investigation. Officers are scanning CCTV footage from the area and questioning hotel staff and eyewitnesses.

“The incident seems to be a fallout of an old rivalry. We are verifying the fact of the matter,” SHO Singh said.

This marks the third firing incident reported in Mohali district in the past nine days, raising concerns about the growing frequency of such attacks.

In a separate case on Thursday night, two men on a motorcycle had opened fire outside a house in Phase 7, Mohali, discharging around 25 rounds and damaging three cars. The Kala Rana gang later claimed responsibility for that assault.
