Chandigarh, Dec 1: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday began a 10-day visit to Japan in a push to attract foreign investment into the state. He is accompanied by Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora and senior officials.
Mann said he will use meetings with leading Japanese industrialists to present Punjab as a “stable, secure and forward-looking destination for manufacturing”. “We want global companies to see what Punjab can offer. I will directly tell them about the reforms we’ve taken and how we are making business easier,” he said before departure.
The delegation plans to share details on new policies aimed at cutting clearances, easing logistics and expanding industrial parks. Officials said the government intends to signal that Punjab is prepared for deeper international partnerships.
Mann will also invite companies to attend a state-level industrial summit likely to be held in March. “We want them to come to Punjab, see the opportunities themselves, and join us for the summit,” he said.
Over the past several weeks, Punjab ministers and bureaucrats have travelled to major Indian cities, meeting potential investors through roadshows. The Japan tour is seen as the state’s most significant outreach in the run-up to the summit.
