Chandigarh, Jan 16: An intense cold wave swept through Haryana on Friday, leaving several districts reeling under sub-five-degree temperatures. Bhiwani officially became the state’s coldest pocket after the minimum temperature crashed to 1.5°C.
The weather department noted that Narnaul and Hisar followed closely behind, recording lows of 2°C and 2.2°C. Other major cities also felt the sting of the winter peak; Gurugram and Faridabad both saw the mercury drop to 4.9°C, while Rohtak stayed slightly higher at 5.2°C.
In the northern belt of the state, Ambala and Karnal saw relatively higher but still frigid minimums of 5.8°C and 6.2°C. Thick fog cover hindered morning travel in these districts, often reducing sightlines to a few meters.
“Visibility was severely affected in the morning hours due to the heavy fog cover across the two states,” a department representative mentioned.
